Ventriloquism marks the fourth and final installment of the JINX incense series. The Ventriloquism composition is a cuvée of sorts: a careful blend of all 23 incense accords I have created over the last year or so, fixed with only Siberian deer musk, marbled ambergris, oakmoss, and bourbon vanilla.

This scent is a collaboration with New York musician Alex Duffy and comes with a 20 minute cassette tape (for all of you underground audiophiles) and digital download of an ambient score written specifically for this perfume composition.  

Alex was given a bottle several months ago and I asked him to write, record, and master two 10-minute tracks that embody the spirit of the perfume. He is also responsible for both the bottle artwork and the cassette sleeve artwork, both risograph printed. This perfume TRULY has a playlist.

Alex Duffy is an NY based audio/visual artist.  He has performed in various punk and electronic bands Debris Field, Moolah, DJ Varnish), and maintains an emphasis on exploring the potentialities induced via experimentation within electro-acoustics and feedback systems. Focusing on negotiating the dialectics of analog and digital systems, he forges hybrid materials which straddle the divide between static/dynamic and subject/object to challenge traditional boundaries.

After all of the blending, Ventriloquism is more than the sum of its parts. Coherent, yet reveling in dichotomy, Ventriloquism smells less like incense than its individual constituents.
