JONAH
15ML / 30ML
From Arthur:
Our second collaboration with Yaaseen Artisan Perfume House, we present Jonah, a dramatic retelling of previous Yaaseen release Apollo, available for the first time ever in spray format.
I purchased a small bottle of Apollo Attar from Moustafa back in April of 2022 and was floored. I was so impressed that I bought the entire batch (23 grams if I remember correctly.) It was perfectly floral, ambergris soaked and saffron-tinged. I bugged him to remake it for years, but us perfumers often prefer to focus on our newer projects, and are less-inclined to want to resurrect older compositions. Fast forward to late 2024, the bug I had been repeatedly putting in Moustafa’s ear finally bit.
In the spirit of collaboration, and not content to just remake Apollo, we brainstormed ways we could amplify the existent composition, while still retaining the core DNA. The largest changes made to the original were a double dose of both white lotus and iris, upping the ambergris concentration, replacing the saffron component with wild citrus, and adding an oud element (the original contained no oud.) This oud element is a vintage Cambodian oud co-distilled with ambergris and Labdanum, adding icing to the amber-cake.

From Moustafa:
Two perfumers. One enduring story.
Drawing from the ancient tale of Jonah—not as parable, but as metaphor—we’ve composed a fragrance that traces a journey through contrast: tension and release, depth and lift, restraint and richness.
This scent emerges from the meeting point of two distinct traditions: the precision and clarity of Japanese perfumery, and the nuanced complexity of French perfumery. The result is a fragrance shaped by elegance, intention, and a quiet kind of intensity.
At the composition’s center is white lotus: Cool, immaculate, and weightless. An olfactory symbol of balance—delicate yet resilient, minimal yet unmistakable.
The top radiates with light—Orange blossom absolute, vivid and airy; Italian neroli, crisp and green; Yuzu, sharp and kinetic; Calamansi, distilled by Misai Oud, tart and astringent. Beneath them, Indonesian sandalwood offers a warm, anchoring contrast. Threaded through it all is White Ambergris—mineralic and subtly marine—acting as a connective tissue between the composition’s clean geometry and its more textured undercurrents.
The French influence arrives not in flourish, but in refinement. A quiet opulence builds in layers: soft, expansive, and slow to reveal. Each note evolves over time, inviting the wearer into its folds rather than announcing itself.
